Editorial standards
How we approach health content
Health information carries real weight. These are the standards we hold our own content to — see also our medical review process.
We prioritize primary sources
When we cite a fact, we aim to point to primary sources — regulatory bodies, official prescribing information, and established public health guidance — rather than secondhand summaries.
We distinguish evidence from opinion
General, well-established information is written differently from areas where evidence is evolving or where reasonable clinicians might disagree. We try not to blur the two.
We identify publication and update dates
Every article shows when it was published and, if applicable, when it was last updated — so you can judge how current the information is.
We disclose medical review status
Every article clearly shows whether it has been "Medically reviewed," "Editorially reviewed," or has "Medical review pending." We never fabricate a reviewer.
We don't promise individual outcomes
General information about how a treatment works is not a promise about what will happen for any specific person. We avoid language that implies otherwise.
We correct errors
When we identify a factual error, we correct it and update the article's revision date. Significant corrections are noted where appropriate.
We distinguish education from personalized medical advice
Nothing on this site is a substitute for an individualized evaluation by a licensed healthcare professional who knows your history.
We disclose commercial relationships
Benthos Health is a commercial healthcare company. Where content relates to our own treatments or services, that relationship is not hidden.
