When a patient needs support beyond your practice
Some patients are interested in medical weight management, but providing longitudinal obesity care may not fit every practice. Benthos Health offers another path for appropriate patients to receive an individualized evaluation and, when clinically appropriate, ongoing treatment.
A dedicated evaluation
Patients complete a structured health intake that is reviewed by a licensed healthcare professional.
Independent clinical judgment
Treatment decisions — including whether medication should be prescribed at all — are made by the treating clinician.
Ongoing care
When treatment is initiated, follow-up and continued clinical support are part of the care experience.
Convenient access
Patients can complete much of the process online without requiring the referring practice to build its own telehealth weight-management workflow.
The patient journey
What happens after you refer a patient?
- 01
Patient starts an intake
The patient provides relevant health history, goals, medications, and other information needed for clinical review.
- 02
A licensed clinician evaluates the patient
A licensed healthcare professional reviews the patient's information and determines whether medical treatment may be appropriate.
- 03
Treatment is determined individually
If treatment is appropriate, the clinician discusses or establishes the patient's care plan. A referral to Benthos does not guarantee medication or a prescription.
- 04
Follow-up continues
Patients receiving treatment have access to continued clinical follow-up and support throughout their care.

Clinical decisions stay clinical.
Benthos Health facilitates access to care, but diagnosis, treatment selection, prescribing, dosage changes, and other medical decisions remain with the licensed healthcare professionals caring for the patient.
- No guaranteed prescriptions
- Completing an intake or being referred does not mean medication will be prescribed.
- Individualized evaluation
- Medical history and relevant clinical factors are reviewed before treatment decisions are made.
- Continued oversight
- When medication is prescribed, the care experience is designed to include appropriate follow-up rather than ending at the prescription.
A resource when patients ask about medical weight management
You may consider sharing Benthos Health with adult patients who want to explore medical weight-management options and would benefit from a clinical evaluation focused on weight management.
- Patients asking about GLP-1 or other medical weight-management options
- Patients seeking a convenient virtual evaluation
- Patients whose current practice does not provide longitudinal medical weight-management care
- Patients who would benefit from additional weight-management support
Clinical eligibility and treatment decisions are determined by the treating healthcare professional after evaluation.
Designed to complement — not replace — the patient's existing care.
Patients may continue seeing their existing primary-care and specialty clinicians while receiving weight-management care through Benthos Health. Patients should continue routine care and should share relevant treatment information with the healthcare professionals involved in their care.
Have a patient who may benefit from additional weight-management support?
You can direct them to Benthos Health to learn about the care process and complete an intake for clinical review.

Clinician FAQ
Does referring a patient guarantee they will receive medication?
No. A licensed healthcare professional determines whether treatment is clinically appropriate.
Who makes prescribing decisions?
Prescribing and treatment decisions are made by the licensed healthcare professional responsible for the patient's Benthos Health clinical evaluation.
Can patients continue seeing me while using Benthos Health?
Yes. Benthos Health is intended as supplemental weight-management care, not as a replacement for a patient's existing primary or specialty care.
Does Benthos Health pay clinicians for referrals?
No. Benthos Health does not provide compensation to clinicians for referring individual patients. A clinician's decision to share Benthos Health with a patient should be based solely on whether they believe it may be a useful care option for that patient.
What types of treatment may be considered?
The evaluating clinician may consider medical weight-management options supported by Benthos Health, including GLP-1-based treatment when appropriate. A referral does not mean any particular medication will be prescribed.
Which states is care available in?
Benthos Health's clinical network covers all 50 states, Washington, DC, and Guam. Whether care is available to an individual patient still depends on a licensed clinician being available in the patient's location and on that clinician's evaluation.
